The Simca 5 is a Franco-Italian passenger car from the interwar period and World War II. It was first presented to the public in 1936 - in the same year mass production started, which lasted until 1948. The car was 3.22 m long, 1.35 m wide and the wheelbase was 2 m. The car was powered by a single 0.6 liter engine.
Simca 5 was developed by the Italian concern Fiat, and externally it was very similar to the Fiat 500 Topolino. Both cars showed considerable similarities in terms of mechanics. However, Simca 5 was offered primarily on the French market, and its assembly took place at the Nanterre plant in the then suburbs of Paris. While the Simca 5 was technically quite a successful car, it did not achieve great market success due to the economic problems of France in the 1930s. Interestingly, during World War II, the production of the car continued - even after the defeat of France in 1940, but for the needs of the German occupier. It is worth adding that a huge part of the Simca 5 production went to the German armed forces where it was used as a staff car. The car was replaced in the Simca offer by the "6" model in 1949. By that time, about 46,500 copies of this car had been built.
