The Fiat 131 is an Italian passenger car of the lower-middle class, which was first presented to the public in 1974. Its serial production took place in the years 1974-1984. The Fiat 131 was powered - depending on the version - with a wide range of engines with a displacement of 1.3 to 2 liters and a maximum power of 55 to 115 HP.
Model 131 was developed almost from scratch as a completely new car in the company's offer, which was to increase its share in the segment of lower-middle class cars. The car uses a steel frame with the engine located at the front. The suspension, modernized compared to the previous models, was also based on MacPherson struts. From 1979, engines known from the model 132 were also used. Fiat 131 was offered in three main body versions: sedan (marked as Mirafiori or Supermirafiori), station wagon (marked as Familiare and Panorama) and a sports version marked as Racing, Volumetrico or Mirafiori Sport. The Fiat 131 turned out to be a successful car with a production volume of approximately 1.5 million units. In the years 1975-1981 it was also licensed in the FSO factory in Warsaw, under the name Fiat 131p.
