Brückenleger IV is a German bridge tank (mobile bridge) from the interwar period and World War II. The first prototype vehicles of this vehicle appeared in 1939, and in the period 1939-1940, orders were placed for 48 such vehicles, but probably fewer were produced. The total length of the tank was approx. 11 m, with a width of approx. 3 m and a height of approx. 3.3 to approx. 3.6 meters. The curb weight of the vehicle was 28 tons. The drive was provided by a single Maybach HL120 TRM engine with a power of up to 300 HP. The Brückenleger IV was developed for the needs of the German land forces, which in 1939 realized that they needed a bridge tank capable of ensuring high mobility and accelerating the operation of engineers while building bridges for their own troops. In order to speed up the work, it was decided to rebuild the already used Pz.Kpfw tanks. IV. It is worth adding that the tower was dismantled, the resulting opening was covered, and an engineer bridge constructed by Magirus or Krupp plants was installed at the top of the car's hull. Vehicles of this type were almost certainly used during the French campaign of 1940 in the ranks of, among others, the 1st, 2nd or 5th Panzer Division. It is worth adding that its completed carts Brückenleger IV were rebuilt into Pz.Kpfw tanks. IV.
