The Neubaufahrzeug was a prototype German heavy tank from the Second World War. The first prototypes of the vehicle were built in 1933, and by 1936, 5 of this car had been produced. Neubaufahrzeug, however, never entered mass production. The vehicle was powered by a single engine Maybach HL 108TR with a power of 280 hp. It was armed with a single 75mm KwK 37 L / 24 or 105mm KwK L / 28 cannon, a single 37mm KwK 36 cannon and 5 7.92mm MG13 machine guns.
Neubaufahrzeug arose on the wave of interest in centuries-old tanks that spread through Europe in the 1930s. As it turned out, it was also a good experimental field for German designers of armored weapons. Two companies were responsible for the production of the Neubaufahrzeug car: Krupp and Rheinmetall-Borsig. The first one used a 105mm cannon as the main armament, and the second used a 75mm cannon. These cannons were placed in rotating turrets (unlike the French Char B1 bis), as were the secondary armaments. The only time Neubaufahrzeug was used in combat during the invasion of Norway in 1940, when one of the wagons was lost.
