The Type 75 is a modern Japanese self-propelled gun with a tracked chassis. Design work on this vehicle began in 1969, with series production running from 1975 to 1988. In total, about 200 vehicles of this type were built. The drive is provided by a single motor Mitsubishi 6ZF with a power of 450 hp. The main armament is a single 155 mm howitzer, and the secondary armament is a single 12.7 mm machine gun.
The Type 75 SPG was developed for the Japanese Self-Defense Forces and is produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Japan Steel Works. The vehicle shares many mechanical components and other elements with the Japanese Type 74 tank, which was developed at the same time as the Type 75 gun. The main task of the gun is to support its own mechanized units with indirect fire and to conduct counter-batter fire. At present, the vehicle is being systematically replaced by the new Japanese self-propelled gun - Type 99. The Type 75 vehicle is only used by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces and has not been exported.
