The M915 is an American heavy truck from the post-war era. The first copies of this vehicle entered the line of the US Army in 1978. The drive is provided by a single motor in the M915A2 version Detroit Diesel DDEC II with a power of 400 hp.
In the late 1970s, the US Army reported a need for new heavy trucks. However, in order to reduce the costs of purchasing a new vehicle, it was decided not to develop it from scratch, but to obtain an appropriate car from the civil market. Finally, the competition for the delivery of new cars was won in 1977 by the AM General company with the M915. This truck is in fact a slightly modified civilian version of the Centaur truck line. Several variants of this car were created in the course of production, among them: M915A1 (the first version produced on a large scale), M915A2 (model produced in Freightliner with a more powerful engine) or M915A5 (version adapted to operations in Afghanistan and Iraq with reinforced structure and armor elements in the driver's cabin).
