The K200 KIFV / KAFV is a modern South Korean IFV. The first prototypes of the vehicle were probably created in the early 1980s, and in the years 1985-2006 mass production was carried out, which led to the creation of approximately 2,400 vehicles of this type. The K200 is powered by a single engine in the basic version MAN-Doosan D2848T with 350 hp. The vehicle is armed with two 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm machine guns.
The K200 was built at Daewoo Heavy Industries (now: Doosan Heavy Industries and Constructions), commissioned by the South Korean army, which in the early 1980s decided to replace the M113 transporters with a completely new one infantry fighting vehicle (IFV). The K200 is characterized by amphibious abilities, high mobility and provides protection against small-caliber weapons by using armor based on composites. It also provides decent cover against anti-personnel mine explosions. Several specialized versions were created on the basis of the K200 vehicle, including: a self-propelled mortar (K281), a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (K263 and K263A1) and a command vehicle (K277). Currently, the K200 vehicles are being withdrawn from the front line in favor of the K21 vehicles, but in 2017 there were plans for their deep modernization.
