Voyager 1 is an American unmanned space probe that was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida on September 5, 1977. The total weight of the satellite is 825.5 kg, and the weight of its scientific apparatus is 104.8 kg. One of the NASA branches - the Jet Propulsion Laboratory is responsible for controlling the satellite's mission. Voyager 1, along with the twin spacecraft Voyager 2, were constructed and launched into space to explore Jupiter and Saturn. Thanks to the use of the acceleration technique in the gravitational field of the passing planets, they turned out to be the fastest probes sent into space by man. After completing its main task, Voyager 1 received a new goal of studying the outermost regions of the heliosphere and measuring the properties and characteristics of interstellar space in the farthest corners of the solar system. Currently, the probe is the most distant and still functioning human-made object from Earth. Its distance from our planet is approx. 141 AU - one such unit is equal to approx. 150 million. kilometers! Voyager 1 is estimated to end its operation around 2025.
