MAZ-537 (another designation: KZKT-537) is a Soviet, heavy, wheeled truck tractor from the post-war period. The first copies of this vehicle appeared in 1959. Its production took place in two plants: in the period 1959-1965 at the Minsk Automobile Plant, and in the years 1963-1990 at the plant in the city of Kurgan. The vehicle is powered by a single D-12A-525A engine with a capacity of 38.8 liters and 525 hp.
The MAZ-537 was designed from the very beginning as a heavy truck tractor for the Soviet Army. In the early versions, it was able to carry a load of up to 50 tons, but later the permissible weight of the transported load increased to 65 tons (model MAZ-537E)! The vehicle is also characterized by an engine located in its middle part, an 8-wheel chassis and good off-road properties. These qualities meant that the MAZ-537 is used for many heavy field work, such as transporting tanks or transporting ballistic missiles.
