Admiral Panteleev is a modern Russian, and formerly Soviet, classic-propelled destroyer. The keel for this unit was laid in 1987, the launch took place in 1988, and the entry into service took place in May 1992. The total length of the ship is 163 meters and 19 meters wide. Full displacement is around 7,900 tons, and maximum speed is around 35 knots. The on-board armament of the ship includes, among others: two quadruple SS-N-14 rocket launchers, 8 SA-N-9 rocket launchers, two single 100 mm cannons, two RBU-6000 depth bomb launchers or 4 sets of AK-630 cal. 30 mm. The unit is based on two Kamow Ka-27 Helix on-board helicopters.

Admiral Panteleev is one of the 12 active destroyers belonging to the Udaloy I class (Project 1155). Units of this type were designed and built as highly specialized anti-submarine ships (ZOP). Considering this fact, it is not surprising that they have a very rich armament and electronic equipment intended for destroying enemy submarines, while their ability to combat surface and air targets was treated as secondary - especially when compared to the Sowremiennyj-type destroyers. This can be seen on the example of the air group used, which consists of two ZOP helicopters, which was previously rather unheard of on Soviet units. Udaloj I-class units were also built to operate in larger combat teams. One of the destroyers of this class is Admiral Panteleev. The unit is currently assigned to the Russian Pacific Fleet. In 2009, she took part in international operations against pirates operating in the Horn of Africa region. In 2012, it took part in the RIMPAC 2012 sea maneuvers.
